One of the last two remaining artists of Drummer Live 2008 we publish on Drummerszone is Pete Ray Biggin. Before the 2009 festival takes place on June 13 and 14 in London we focus on Pete Ray Biggin, one of the most active drummers in the UK. With his schedule, that should have worn him out, he managed to perform at DL 2008 without any loss of power, groove or even enthusiasm. The moment he picks up his sticks wood is flying around, the drums get beaten to the max, and the audience is beaten around untill at least their feet will move.
Originally from Sheffield, Pete Ray Biggin got deep into the professional London music scene very quickly. Working with acts like Cameo, Incognito, he later got the opportunity to work with Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Robbie Williams, Sean Lennon and has recorded for Adele as well. Probably one of his best known recent references is his appearance in the Mark Ronson ft. Amy Winehouse video of Valerie. With that he has his own band Raiyn and continues to record and play with it wherever they can.
On the second day of Drummer Live, Pete Ray just got back from a show with Incognito in Paris the night before. With hardly any sleep at all, he blew everyone off their feet. The fans in the audience literally screamed during solos, breaks and after impossible fills he throws around his drum set on very high speed.
Pete is an artist that has extreme power in the beat, but still able to maintain the groove. It is an experience on itself to see this drummer play. With an almost boyish enthusiastic approach to songs, solos and rhythms stay tight, even when he feels he's losing it. Check those moments out in the videos... a joy to watch him play!
Pete Ray Biggin endorses: Tama, Sabian, Remo drumheads, Protection Racket and Vic Firth drumsticks
We close our coverage with videos of Pete and later this week the final of Drummer Live 2008: Jason Bonham. Watch Pete's videos below, and make sure you check out the pictures of this high speed grooving wonder from the UK on his artist page on drummerszone.com.
